The Dambulla Cave Temple (or Golden Temple of Dambulla) is a UNESCO World Heritage site in Sri Lanka. It is a complex of five natural caves filled with ancient Buddha statues and detailed ceiling paintings. The history spans over 2,000 years, beginning with a king who turned his hiding spot into a temple to show his gratitude.
